About The Position

AWARE is seeking a passionate and dedicated Grant and Outreach Coordinator to join their team, specifically for the 988 Crisis Services program in Missoula, MT. The role involves leading outreach efforts, building relationships with crisis continuum partners, and representing the 988 Crisis Call Program in the community. The coordinator will be responsible for developing presentations, drafting MOUs, supporting volunteer recruitment, and promoting recovery-based principles. A key aspect of the role is providing oversight for grant-funded projects, ensuring alignment with grant applications and awards, collaborating with partners to meet objectives, and monitoring compliance. The position requires maintaining accurate documentation and reporting for outreach and grant activities, working with data teams, and managing project budgets. The coordinator must stay current with 988 Crisis Call Center operations, crisis intervention techniques, and mental health crisis response best practices, utilizing analytical, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills. The role also involves operating relevant software for crisis call centers and grant management, and ensuring timely submission of all reports. Collaboration with the 988 Program Manager is essential for developing project plans, schedules, budgets, and expenditures. Mandatory training is also a requirement.

Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of suicide prevention, behavioral health crisis management.
  • Knowledge of the 988 Crisis Program, including its operations, goals, and integration within the broader crisis services.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication for interacting with team members, stakeholders, community partners, and individuals in crisis.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Understanding of grant-funded initiatives.
  • Ability to ensure compliance, reporting, and sustainability planning of grants.
  • Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor’s degree in human services, public relations, grant administration, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead outreach efforts to build and maintain relationships with crisis continuum partners and stakeholders.
  • Represent the 988 Crisis Call Program at community meetings across the service area to assess needs and identify service gaps.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and materials to raise awareness of 988 services.
  • Draft and facilitate memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with partner agencies to support service coordination and data sharing.
  • Support volunteer recruitment, training, and monitoring in collaboration with the 988 Crisis Services Program Manager.
  • Promote recovery-based principles in all internal and external initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for outreach and grant activities.
  • Provide oversight and leadership for grant-funded projects, ensuring alignment with the grant application and Notice of Award.
  • Collaborate with state and federal partners to meet grant objectives and maintain compliance.
  • Monitor and report on grant deliverables, including progress reports, data submissions, and performance metrics.
  • Work closely with internal data teams and the Project Evaluator on data collection, quality measures, and reporting.
  • Submit amendment requests and communicate staffing or scope changes to federal partners as required.
  • Monitor project budgets, approve expenditures, and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of 988 Crisis Call Center operations, crisis intervention techniques, and best practices in mental health crisis response.
  • Apply analytical skills to interpret data and trends for program improvement and decision-making.
  • Use conflict resolution and interpersonal skills to influence diverse groups toward shared goals.
  • Operate relevant software and technology used in crisis call centers and grant management.
  • Ensure that all report requirements are submitted within the required timeframes.
  • In collaboration with the 988 Program Manager, develop project plans, project schedules, budgets, and expenditures.
  • Completes mandatory training per policies.
