About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Grant Accountant to join our team on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis. This role does not require prior grant experience but does require strong accounting fundamentals. You will handle journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and preparation of expense and reimbursement packets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preference in Accounting/Finance
  • 3+ years of accounting experience within GAAP
  • Familiarity with debits/credits, journal entries, expense reports, billing reimbursements, and financial reporting
  • Intermediate Excel proficiency
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Nonprofit accounting experience
  • Fund accounting experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries and budget vouchers with supporting documentation
  • Analyze data, reconcile GL accounts, and verify accuracy of accounting classifications
  • Maintain accurate files and records (digital and physical)
  • Prepare periodic and special reports on grant account status or analysis
  • Submit assignments for supervisory review to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Address issues related to grants accounting and ensure compliance with institutional requirements
  • Assist with reviewing new grant applications and related budgets
  • Prepare for audits and respond to auditor inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, local, and private grant requirements
  • Attend trainings and meetings as needed
