About The Position

Administer federal, state, and private sponsored awards. This includes invoicing, financial reporting, preparation of financial reconciling documents, and auditing of all disbursements. The role involves the interpretation and application of cost accounting standards, OMB Uniform Guidance, state regulations/laws, University policy and procedure, and any terms and conditions of the award. Responsibilities also include approval of expenditures via various electronic systems for allowability, allocability, and reasonableness, monthly review of financial reports for each award, and monitoring of outstanding receivables. This position will work with outside sponsors, college research offices, and faculty to assure payments are received, communicate with sponsors, and provide guidance to colleges on various issues. Additionally, the role will assist with Grant and Contract Shared Services Agreement(s) and provide training to outside offices as requested by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date).
  • Univ Acct I - no experience required.
  • Univ Acct II - Two years of related experience.
  • Univ Acct III - Five years of related experience.
  • Personal computer skills and experience with software applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point; familiar with Internet and HTML.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting principles, audit standards and fund accounting principles, federal and state regulations.
  • Ability to "think through" problems or analyze problems and formulate solutions before going to supervisor.
  • Self-starter in approach to work; reaches for more responsibility and knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and speaking.
  • 10-Key by touch required.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of experience in state fund accounting; federal, state, and private grant/accounting; and cost accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant and/or Certified Research Administrator.
  • Grant Accounting or Sponsored Programs Post Award Experience.
