About The Position

The Grant Accountant will be responsible for accounting and financial reporting for various government, corporate and private foundation grants and other programs supporting Goodwill Industries of Kentucky. This role requires maintaining timely and accurate fiscal record keeping for all grants in compliance with federal and state regulations and other grant requirements. The accountant will collaborate with the Manager of Grant Accounting, Program Services Directors and Managers, and other management personnel to ensure organizational policies and procedures meet OMB Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards and other applicable state, local, or program requirements. Additionally, the role assists in the development of fiscal aspects of new grant applications or establishment of new programs, and aids in the preparation, review, and coordination of Single Audit and program audit work with external and internal auditors. The position is responsible for the proper utilization of software programs to support grant fiscal management, accounting for grant costs, accurate and timely preparation of invoices, and collection of accounts receivables for all grants. The Grant Accountant will monitor program expenses and resources, reporting variances and trend information to program directors and managers as requested. This role also manages the grant disbursement process and reconciliation of fund balances to the general ledger, and maintains monthly grant workpapers to support the monthly grant billing process and preparation of monthly invoices. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including excellent grammar, spelling; ability to interface with internal and external customers.
  • Must have excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work well independently and as a team member.
  • Must be detail-oriented for accuracy.
  • Bachelor's degree in business required, preferably in accounting or finance.
  • Must have two (2-5) years' experience in grant accounting and single audits.
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) with the ability to learn new software as appropriate and necessary for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Dynamics GP and/or Management Reporter software experience preferred.
