About The Position

The Office of the Registrar is seeking two Graduation Evaluators to process and award degrees, minors, and certificates efficiently and expeditiously. This role involves interpreting and applying policies from various codes and university documents, utilizing the GET Advisement module (CAAR), and serving as a liaison to academic departments. The position requires providing excellent customer service, general office support, and assisting with the orientation and training of new staff and advisors. A background check is required for all candidates.

Requirements

  • Evaluator Trainee: Equivalent to six months responsible experience involving academic, administrative, fiscal or statistical records processing and maintenance, OR two years of full-time college with coursework specific to development of quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Evaluator I: Equivalent to completion of a formal training program in academic records evaluation OR one year of academic records evaluation experience OR any 12-month combination of training and experience related to academic records evaluation.
  • Prior experience working in academic records.
  • Knowledge of Degree Audit Systems and/or Student Record databases.
  • Appropriate math and computer skills to analyze final GPAs, deficiency points, academic renewals, transfer credits, and honor calculations.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to logically back decisions.
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment in interpreting and applying academic policies, regulations, and degree requirements.
  • High level of communication, written, and listening skills.
  • Demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
  • Must reside in the State of California.
  • Must complete a background check (including a criminal records check) satisfactorily.
  • Must comply with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act as a mandated reporter.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and re-evaluates student records for the processing and awarding of degrees, minors, and certificates.
  • Interprets and applies procedures and policies from State Education and Administrative codes, University Catalog, Academic Senate, and internal office documents.
  • Awards Baccalaureate, Master, and Doctorate Degrees, as well as Minors and Certificates.
  • Applies appropriate coding into various components related to graduation and the GET Advisement module (CAAR).
  • Serves as a liaison to academic departments to support advisement, facilitate student graduation, and assist advisors with navigating and encoding data into CAAR modules.
  • Provides quality customer service to students and the campus community.
  • Provides general office operational support.
  • Assists with orientation and training of Evaluator Trainees and new advisors regarding CAAR functionality during the supervisor's absence.
