About The Position

This role involves evaluating and re-evaluating student records for the efficient and expeditious processing and awarding of degrees and graduation checks. The incumbent will follow and interpret procedures and policies set forth by various educational codes, university catalogs, academic senates, and internal office documents. Responsibilities include awarding Baccalaureate, Master, and Doctorate Degrees, as well as Minors and Certificates. The role requires applying appropriate coding into graduation-related components and the GET Advisement module (CAAR). The incumbent will also serve as a liaison to academic departments to support advisement, facilitate student graduation, and assist advisors with the CAAR modules. Providing quality customer service to students and the campus community is essential. Additionally, the role involves general office operational support and assisting with the orientation and training of Evaluator Trainees and new advisors regarding CAAR functionality during the supervisor's absence.

Requirements

  • Evaluator Trainee: Equivalent to six months responsible experience involving academic, administrative, fiscal or statistical records processing and maintenance, OR two years of full-time college with course work specific to development of quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Evaluator I: Equivalent to completion of a formal training program in academic records evaluation OR one year of academic records evaluation experience OR any 12-month combination of training and experience related to academic records evaluation.
  • Prior experience working in academic records.
  • Knowledge of Degree Audit Systems and/or Student Record databases.
  • Appropriate math and computer skills in order to analyze final GPA’s, deficiency points, academic renewals, transfer credits and honor calculations.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to logically back decisions.
  • Sound professional judgment in interpreting and applying academic policies, regulations, and degree requirements.
  • High level of communication, written and listening skills.
  • Ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
  • Demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
  • Must reside in the State of California.
  • Must complete a background check (including a criminal records check) satisfactorily.
  • Must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment (mandated reporter under California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act).
