About The Position

The Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC) Nursing Division is dedicated to nursing excellence through compassionate care, advancing the art and science of nursing, and advocating for patients, families, and communities. The Graduate Resident Nurse uses the nursing process for practice and provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse. This is an entry-level position for Graduate Resident Nurses, with training, evaluation, and competencies overseen by a Nurse Leader. Participants will be enrolled in a Nurse Residency Program during their first year, with a balance of clinical and educational time determined by Nurse Leadership. Unit 6 West is a 36-bed blended acuity unit specializing in neurology, caring for patients with acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy monitoring, and other neurological conditions. As a certified comprehensive stroke center, the unit collaborates closely with the vascular neurology team, and nurses are experts in acute stroke care. The unit also manages a variety of acutely ill medical patients. Beyond the nine-bed progressive care unit, the remaining 27 beds offer continuous cardiac monitoring. The team is committed to delivering safe, high-quality care. Unit 6 West provides a unique opportunity for nurses to build their resume and advance their careers, with a close relationship to the critical care team to facilitate seamless transitions into intensive care units.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration.
  • Graduating nursing students must provide NCLEX registration documentation when eligible.
  • American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate.
  • 0-1 years related work experience required.
  • Basic familiarity with computers.
  • Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
  • Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures.
  • Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to the unit-specific competencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) and COVID-19 as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities
