About The Position

Under the direct supervision of an Early Childhood Specialist, the Summer Development Fellow will support HighScope’s projects focused on updating and enhancing the HighScope preschool curriculum. This fellowship is specifically intended for practitioners—such as teachers, coaches, and administrators—who typically work during the school year and are interested in gaining or strengthening their experience in curriculum development and professional learning design. Fellows spend the summer working closely with the Early Childhood Development (ECD) team to ensure updates and enhancements are innovative and meaningful for the current needs of preschool educators and the children they serve. Fellows work four days per week (32 hours total) for an eight-week period at a rate of $30 per hour. The fellowship runs from June 2026 through September 2026, with the final schedule determined in coordination with the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Recent preschool classroom experience using the HighScope Curriculum
  • Knowledge of the HighScope Curriculum.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to work both independently and in teams.
  • Organizational skills to support project tasks and timelines (prioritization, attention to detail, etc.)
  • Central Registry Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years in the classroom using the HighScope Curriculum preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Early Childhood Development (ECD) team members via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and/or in-person at HighScope Educational Research Foundation.
  • Provide high-level reviews on curriculum resources and professional learning courses.
  • Support course design and redesign, including building and uploading courses.
  • Pilot and test new resources and organize feedback.
  • Develop and organize project spreadsheets and pages.
  • Conduct research interviews and/or facilitate focus groups.
  • Develop summaries of current research or field work (i.e., themes from interviews).
  • Develop/review deliverables (presentations, reports, activities, etc.)
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
