About The Position

Associate Professor Christopher Meyer is seeking a graduate student to assist with ongoing research into mass timber fabrication, digital modeling, and communication with mass timber manufacturers. The position will involve both digital production and research/documentation.

Requirements

  • Graduate student in architecture
  • Fundamental knowledge of digital modeling, particularly Rhino
  • Interest in digital fabrication and/or computational design processes
  • Strong organizational and graphic communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with digital modeling
  • Experience with physical model making
  • Experience with CNC fabrication

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine digital models with the specific objective of preparing files for CNC milling and fabrication for an upcoming exhibition.
  • Coordinate with the TuSABE Fabrication Lab to prepare, review, and organize CNC milling files and support the fabrication process.
  • Develop a concise pamphlet/document outlining the basic information, drawings, specifications, and project requirements needed to communicate effectively with mass timber manufacturers.
  • Provide assistance and support for the Fall 2026 Wood Talks: Forests + Buildings symposium, including preparation of presentation and exhibition materials, research and documentation, graphic production, and other logistical tasks associated with the event.
