About The Position

This position will support recruitment, data collection, and day-to-day study operations for an NIH-funded, multi-site longitudinal study examining transitional care for persons living with dementia and their family caregivers. The GRA will work across all three hospital sites and is expected to maintain a regular in-person presence at the Austin sites. Training in geriatric and neurological assessment will be provided — prior clinical background is not required.

Requirements

Enrolled as a Master's or Doctoral student at The University of Texas at Austin Graduate program (Nursing, Public Health, Social Work, Gerontology, or a related field)
Working proficiency in spoken and written Spanish, sufficient to communicate directly with PLWD participants and family caregivers.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to travel regularly to Austin hospital sites (personal vehicle or other reliable transportation).
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

Enrolled in a graduate program with the School of Nursing or related program at The University of Texas at Austin.
Coursework or training in geriatric and neurological assessment.
Prior experience with research participant recruitment, data collection, or interviewing.
Coursework or experience related to dementia care, gerontology, or family caregiving.
Familiarity with REDCap or similar research data systems.

Responsibilities

Support recruitment and data collection across Aims 1–3.
For Aim 1, identify and approach eligible PLWD-caregiver dyads during hospitalization, administer baseline assessments, and conduct 1-month and 3-month post-discharge follow-up assessments.
For Aims 2 and 3, assist with recruiting caregivers and providers from hospital, skilled nursing facility (SNF), and community-based settings in Austin and Houston.
Conduct in-depth interviews with hospital, SNF, and community-based provider participants.
Coordinate with the Baylor Houston site coordinator to promote the study and support consistent implementation of study procedures across sites.
Enter, clean, and score quantitative data and support qualitative data coding and analysis.
Support daily management and quality monitoring of study data across all three aims.
Schedule interviews, order study supplies, and process participant incentive payments.
Respond to participant questions and provide study-related information throughout participation.
