About The Position

This is a temporary, part-time (50% FTE) Graduate Assistant position for 11 months, supporting research projects in Cancer Epidemiology at the University of Hawaii Manoa campus. The role involves providing research support, conducting lab procedures or data analysis, assisting with strategic planning and evaluation, writing research papers, and maintaining records of human subjects. The position is ideal for a classified University of Hawaii at Manoa graduate student in good academic standing.

Requirements

  • A classified University of Hawaii at Manoa graduate student (new or continuing).
  • Good academic standing (3.0 GPA or above).
  • Enrolled into a University of Hawaii at Manoa graduate program.
  • Have a background in Cellular Molecular Biology, Molecular Sciences and Bioengineering, Public Health, Psychology, Nutrition, and/ or other related fields.
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
  • Competent in general computer programs (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to safeguard confidential and sensitive material and information.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidate working on a doctoral degree.
  • Students with significant experience in the Pacific region.
  • Knowledge of database management and program evaluation.
  • Working knowledge of SAS, R and other data analysis software or experience working in research labs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to PI with research projects and data collection.
  • Conduct lab procedures (CB) or data analysis and interpretation (PSP).
  • Assist with developing a strategic plan, evaluation of progress, process and outcomes, and creating data-based profiles for research studies.
  • Assist PI with writing research papers for journal submissions.
  • Maintain record of human subjects in research studies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
