About The Position
The Graduate Research Appointment (GRA) is a post-baccalaureate appointment for participants with an interest in biomedical research. The primary purpose is to provide a post-baccalaureate laboratory research experience that applies skills in science, technology, engineering or math to biomedical research including basic science or translational research. GRA participants will have the opportunity to participate in selected graduate classes and seminars while working in this role. The Dr. Shizhen (Jane) Zhu Laboratory at Mayo Clinic in Rochester is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and responsible individual to join our research team. Our laboratory aims to unravel the molecular pathogenesis of neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer, and to identify and explore novel therapeutic strategies for this disease.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge and hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong background in science, technology, engineering, or math
- Authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now, or in the future (for example, be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident, refugee or asylee)
- Applicants who are currently in Graduate or Medical School are not eligible.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience with zebrafish or mouse models
- Previous experience with mammalian cell culture
Responsibilities
- Participating in research projects
- Maintaining the zebrafish facility
- Assisting with the preparation of general laboratory reagents, such as stock solutions and buffers
- Routine laboratory organization and maintenance
