About The Position

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is seeking passionate individuals to join their team who share the same passion in serving the community. Under the direction of the Manager, Scholarship Programs, the Graduate Project Assistant will assist with qualitative and quantitative research to support the Scholarship Office. This position will work to optimize scholarship awards for improved retention and completion of impacted students. This position will be responsible for outreach to students, processing scholarship applications, communicating with students regarding their needs and statuses, and maintaining updated scholarship recipient databases.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with one (1) year of experience with applied statistics and research including qualitative and quantitative data.
Proficiency in the use of computers and software specific to position, including spreadsheets and the Internet.
Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision and serve in a leadership role to others.
Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.

Nice To Haves

Pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, Public Health or Statistics with two (2) or more years of experience with applied statistics and research including both qualitative and quantitative data.

Responsibilities

Communicates with interested, eligible students about scholarship opportunities.
Processes scholarship applications in collaboration with other departments.
Serves as a point of contact for all scholarship recipients.
Plans, prepares, executes and hosts events to foster community between scholarship recipients.
Utilizes data to analyze the impact of scholarship awards by type, amount, and timing of award.
Assists in the creation and maintenance of a metrics dashboard showing historical effectiveness of scholarship applications by scholarship type for use in future scholarship development.
Assists the project’s external consultant in recruiting for focus groups.
Conducts focus groups to collect further data in support of the project in accordance with policies and procedures.
Prepares findings from focus groups for reporting.
Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with staff, faculty, and administrators.
Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education with an emphasis on community Colleges.
Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.
