About The Position

UPMC Somerset is seeking Graduate Nurses who are graduating with their undergraduate nursing degree in or before Fall of 2026 to launch their RN career. This is a full-time Professional Staff Nurse position. UPMC Somerset is a community-based hospital in Somerset, PA, that emphasizes education, growth, and a team-based environment. The Professional Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment with empathy and a passion for learning. This role requires independent judgment, clear communication, and partnership with physicians, other care providers, patients, and their families to achieve desired patient outcomes. As a member of the care delivery team, the Professional Staff Nurse sets the standards for nursing care quality and is accountable for its provision, demonstrating a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Requirements

  • Graduating with an undergraduate nursing degree in or before Fall of 2026.
  • Eligible for State Board Licensure.
  • Must successfully pass the State Board Nursing Examination within 60 days of hire.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of PA.
  • NIHSS upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Act 33 with renewal.
  • Act 34.
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.

Nice To Haves

  • Telemetry: Certs required (upon hire or within 6 mo) are Basic Cardiac Dysrhythmia & ACLS.
  • ICU: Certs required (upon hire or within 6mo) are ACLS, Basic Critical Care Nursing Course, & Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation Course.
  • ED: Certs required (upon hire or within 6mo) are ACLS & PALS. Basic Cardiac Dysrhythmia Interpretation Course (upon hire or within 1yr).
  • OR: Certs required (upon hire or within 6 months) ACLS & Basic Cardiac Dysrhythmia Interpretation.
  • BCLS (upon hire or within 6 Months).
  • Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Applicable required unit specific licensure, certification, and clearances.
