About The Position

Be part of the only dedicated stroke unit in northern Michigan, a 29-bed private room unit specializing in the care of patients with neurologic deficits. As part of a Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) designation, we care for a wide range of complex neurological conditions, including: Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, Seizure disorders, Headaches and mood disorders, Rare and complex neurologic syndromes, Post-operative neurosurgical care (e.g., thrombectomies, TNK, craniotomies, VP shunts). Requirements

Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan
Passion for neurology and high-acuity care
BLS Certification
NIH Stroke Scale Certification (to be obtained during unit orientation)
Experienced RNs and new grads with a strong interest in neuro

Responsibilities

Care for patients with neurologic deficits.
Care for a wide range of complex neurological conditions, including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizure disorders, headaches and mood disorders, rare and complex neurologic syndromes, and post-operative neurosurgical care.
Utilize state-of-the-art technology, including a biplane CT scanner.
Monitor patients using telemetry and cardiac monitoring.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including pharmacists, PT, OT, and speech therapy.
Work with renowned neurosurgeons and interventionalists.
Participate as a member of the Stroke Medical Response Team (MRT).
