About The Position

The Short Stay Unit is a 16-bed unit predominantly accepting patients post-surgical or post-procedural on the interventional platform. Patients are ideally here for 23 hours or 1 to 3 days at the most. Schedule: Full time, 7a-7p varying nights with every 3rd weekend, holiday requirement, no on-call requirement. Eligibility: Graduate of an accredited nursing program, eligible to practice as determined by State Board of Nursing, less than one year of experience working as an RN. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Eligible to practice as determined by State Board of Nursing
  • Less than one year of experience working as an RN
  • RN licensure in the State of Missouri, or new graduate of accredited school of nursing and must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive nursing assessment/reassessment.
  • Establishes, coordinates and evaluates a plan of care based on analysis of assessment data, patient diagnosis, lab data, tests, procedures, physician orders, protocols and standards of care and other information as relevant.
  • Provides and documents nursing interventions based on assessed patient needs, plan of care, and changes in patient status.
  • Documents and/or communicates nursing care and/or changes in patient condition.
  • Provides specialized care to patients at high risk for injury.
  • Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice.
