Graduate Nurse/Registered Nurse – IMC
About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) on the Acute IMC Unit is a full-time position requiring 36 hours weekly with a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays. This role reports to the Director and is responsible for providing bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill patient population. The RN will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care for individuals with various complex health conditions, often requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring and/or mechanical ventilator support. The unit is equipped with two negative pressure rooms and patient lift assist equipment in all rooms. A Nurse Educator is on-site, and an Acute/Critical Care course is available for nurses new to acute, in-patient care.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred).
- Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
- At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
- Superb interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
- Competency in electronic patient management systems.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
- Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of the patient.
- Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
- Administer medications to patients, provide education, and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
- Assess, monitor, report, and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
- Design, implement, and evaluate patient nursing care plans with the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and family throughout their stay and in preparation for discharge.
