About The Position

An excellent opportunity exists for a Graduate Field Engineer - Piping Undergrounds to develop hands-on field engineering experience within a supportive construction environment on the combined cycle gas turbine Project Kilby in Pecos, Texas. You will mobilize to the project on a long-term (camp) assignment in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award. Reporting to the Lead Field Engineer, you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Requirements

  • Requires a University Hire with less than 1 year of experience
  • Working in a field construction environment interpreting specification, procedures, vendor drawings and installation instructions, and codes.
  • Understanding piping P&ID’s, isometrics drawings, pipe support drawings (engineered specific and generic “cookbook”).
  • Strong ability to read, understand and interpret mechanical/piping installation/construction drawings.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Enthusiastic approach to learning opportunities, including seeking and accepting feedback to enhance your own development and experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and willing to work with a diverse range of people.

  • Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the preparation of construction drawings, sketches, projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements
  • Assists in planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases
  • Assists in preparation of quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
  • Assists supporting construction engineers, discipline superintendents, foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Builds system and area turnover packages both digitally and physically for turnover to startup and client.
