About The Position

The Department of TV, Film, and Media Studies at California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) is seeking graduate students for a 12-month Graduate Assistant position. This role offers professional non-teaching assistance to faculty members, including research support, training on equipment and resources, assistance with course material preparation, and participation in student evaluation and tutoring. The position is ideal for degree-seeking graduate students in the TV, Film, and Media Studies department who are in good academic standing and enrolled in courses towards their degree. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural, and inclusive environment and possess the potential to instruct and evaluate students.

Requirements

• Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of TV, Film, and Media Studies.
• Graduate Assistant must be currently enrolled in or admitted to a Cal State LA graduate degree program.
• The successful applicant will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings.
• Admissions to the Master Program in the Department of TV, Film, and Media Studies, in good academic standing
• Enrollment in course(s) for the semester towards the degree
• Ability to relate well with others within the academic environment and have the ability or potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students
• Demonstrate commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds

Responsibilities

• Provide professional non-teaching assistance to faculty member
• Provide research assistance and practical experience in fields related to their advanced study
• Assisting with handling/or training other student in the use of equipment or other resources
• Assisting faculty with research and preparation of course materials
• Participate in evaluation of students work
• Tutoring students
