2026-27 Graduate Assistant 12 month - Theatre and Dance
About The Position
The Department of Theatre and Dance seeks graduate students for a Graduate Assistant position. This role involves providing professional non-teaching assistance to faculty members, offering research assistance and practical experience in fields related to advanced study, and assisting with handling or training others in the use of equipment or resources. The Graduate Assistant will also support faculty with research and preparation of course materials, participate in the evaluation of student work, and provide tutoring to students. The appointment dates are anticipated to span from May 26, 2026, through May 29, 2027, with students working up to 20 hours per week during the semester. The specific duties will depend on the assigned area and the needs of the faculty supervisor.
Requirements
- Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of Theatre and Dance.
- Currently enrolled in or admitted to a Cal State LA graduate degree program.
- Admission to the Master Program in Television, Film and Theatre, in good academic standing
- Enrollment in course(s) for the semester towards the degree
- Ability to relate well with others within the academic environment and have the ability or potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students
- Demonstrate commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Satisfactorily completed background check.
