About The Position

The Graduate Assistant (GA) in the Parks & Recreation Management Department provides instructional, administrative, and research support to faculty while gaining professional experience aligned with their academic program. This part-time position typically requires 10–20 hours per week with a flexible schedule based on departmental needs and the student’s course load. This position offers practical experience in teaching, research, and academic administration, helping prepare graduate students for careers in parks & recreation management or related fields while supporting the mission and operations of the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree completed
  • Admission and enrollment in a graduate program at SWOSU
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Basic proficiency in office and educational technology tools
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty with course preparation, grading, and maintaining course materials in learning management systems
  • Provide tutoring and academic support to undergraduate students, including leading review sessions or study groups
  • Support research activities such as literature reviews, data entry, and basic analysis
  • Assist with program coordination, including scheduling, recordkeeping, and accreditation-related documentation
  • Help plan and support departmental events, workshops, and recruitment activities
  • Respond to routine student inquiries and maintain professional communication
  • Assist with Crowder Lake Events
