About The Position

This graduate teaching assistant position offers MFA low-res or res graduate students an opportunity to support classes in the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics curriculum. Graduate assistants will have the opportunity to lead contemplative & creative exercises, offer feedback to students, and/or lead class discussions. Graduate assistants will also receive mentorship and professional development with regards to their teaching philosophy and pedagogical practices.

Requirements

Demonstrated advanced creative writing ability.
Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
Have strong interpersonal, collaborative, and professional work skills, the ability to meticulously attend to details, and an initiative to work independently and collaboratively.
Have strong technological skills for online coursework in Canvas.
Successful completion of JKS pedagogy course or comparable teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with teaching or TAing.
Previous training in the following areas: learning disabilities, multilingual speakers, diversity awareness.

Responsibilities

Attend online classes & regular meet with mentoring faculty
Participate in monthly in-service with other GAs in pedagogy collective
Comment and offer feedback on student work in a timely fashion
Conference with students
Develop creative assignments and contemplative exercises
Lead class discussions of both student work and course readings
