About The Position

Ottawa University, established in 1865, is seeking a Graduate Assistant Football Coach to assist the head coach in various aspects of the program. Responsibilities include coaching, practice organization and implementation, conditioning supervision, event management, transportation, recruitment, equipment control and inventory, and academic monitoring and mentoring. Evidence of extensive specific sport experience (collegiate playing and/or coaching) is required. The selected candidate will receive a tuition waiver for 18 credit hours per year for one of Ottawa University's graduate programs, a partial meal allowance, and a bi-weekly living stipend paid over 12 months. Renewals are based on academic performance and quality of work. International candidates are eligible for the on-campus MBA program and must secure an F1 visa and meet international admission criteria. Appointments are typically made to students with superior undergraduate aptitude who are likely to provide high-quality service.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train and coach members of the athletic program
  • Recruit, retain and graduate student-athletes who contribute to the success of the program and vibrancy of campus life
  • Fund and friend raising for the advancement of the program
  • Provide oversight of student-athletes academic progress toward degree completion
  • Assist with any and all administrative duties as assigned
  • Insure adherence to the NAIA and rules and regulations including the NAIA Champions of Character 5 core values
  • Provide leadership for campus involvement and community service
  • Provide Christ-centered leadership and direction for the Baseball program
  • Other duties as assigned
