About The Position

Ottawa University, a private liberal arts university established in 1865, is seeking a Graduate Assistant for its Club Baseball program at the Surprise, Arizona campus. This part-time position (29 hours/week) involves assisting the Program Manager with various aspects of the program, including coaching, practice organization, conditioning supervision, event management, transportation, recruitment, equipment control, and academic monitoring. The role requires extensive specific sport experience (collegiate playing and/or coaching). Requirements

  • Evidence of extensive specific sport experience (collegiate playing and/or coaching) is required.
  • Must be accepted and enrolled in an Ottawa University graduate program.
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0.
  • Submission of official undergraduate transcripts.
  • Submission of a personal statement regarding career goals.
  • Submission of three professional references.
  • Eligible to work in the United States and present proper documentation.
  • International candidates must be able to secure an F1 student visa and meet international admissions criteria for the MBA program.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively carry out the recruiting process of prospective students for the Club Program and assist them with admission information.
  • Provide continuing conversations and contacts to prospective student/club participants, guiding them through the enrollment process.
  • Maintain a priority of recruiting students who are a good fit with the University and the Club Program, and meet enrollment targets including retention.
  • Work as a member of a recruitment team, supporting the processes and goals of admissions, financial aid, business, and registrar’s offices.
  • Streamline enrollment processes for an efficient and smooth transition for prospective students.
  • Provide strong public relations internally and to external constituencies.
  • Support the Club Program and the individual needs of its members.
  • Work toward team unity and the general unity of the Surprise Residential Campus.
  • Initiate and follow a consistent, reasonable, and effective program and schedule for students and the team.
  • Provide regular support and direction to students.
  • Provide oversight of student-athletes' academic progress toward degree completion.
  • Exercise strong expense management within the allotted program budget and approved funding levels.
  • Provide a strong academic emphasis and support of academics through leadership and activities of the program.
  • Be mindful of the contribution each student/program participant makes to the Surprise community, including academic performance and participation in non-program activities.
  • Fund and friend raise for the advancement of the program.
  • Provide leadership for campus involvement and community service.
  • Provide Christ-centered leadership and direction for the Baseball program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
