About The Position

The Office of Teaching and Learning provides school administrators and teachers with the professional learning and resources needed to engage students in rich and rewarding learning experiences. The Office is comprised of various academic and support departments, which work collaboratively to support students’ growth and progress in meeting or exceeding state standards for academic excellence. Reporting to the Executive Director of Instructional Systems and Supports, the Grading Practices Coordinator will work closely with colleagues in the development of a district grading policy and an equity action plan to address and adjust the district’s current grading practices. Designated to support either elementary schools or high schools, this position will be responsible for ensuring that their respective schools in the district are implementing equitable grading practices aligned with all district grading policies, as well as ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient grading for those schools. This is a full-time exempt position that will be paid for time worked on a salary basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in the K-12 education field (ex: administrative or instructional roles)
  • Experience with the delivery of training programs using a variety of instructional techniques
  • Ability to articulate a vision, set high standards, and effectively guide schools and principals in the realization of expectations set with grading practices
  • Ability to define problems, analyze data, and outline valid conclusions and action steps to support the continuous improvement of training programs, methods, and materials.
  • Strong communication skills (speaking - including presentations - listening, and writing)
  • Demonstrate high levels of integrity, honesty, credibility, and the courage to make difficult yet necessary decisions
  • Effective strategic planning capabilities, including the ability to establish long-term vision and goals, and align/manage activities toward goal fulfillment
  • Knowledge of operations, management and organizational development
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with a variety of constituent groups, including external partners, to ensure the entire system operates in the most effective manner possible to support schools and principals

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Instructional experience and/or familiarity with school grading practices preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review and assess grading policies and practices to identify opportunities to advance equity and consistency
  • Monitor systems and processes that support the implementation of district grading policies and practices
  • Support the district-wide implementation of the Comprehensive Grading Guidelines
  • Develop and maintain guidance, resources, and tools to support consistent local implementation of grading policies
  • Provide targeted technical assistance to schools in developing school-level grading practices aligned with district guidelines
  • Identify implementation needs and collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen grading practices, systems, and supports across schools
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for schools regarding grading policies, practices, and implementation.
  • Support the evaluation and resolution of grade-related appeals associated with Summer Bridge programming
  • Collaborate with the Student Information System (SIS/Aspen) team to develop, coordinate, and manage the annual grade reporting calendar
