Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience operating earth-moving equipment such as dozers and backhoes.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and safety standards.
  • Ability to maintain, inspect, and clean equipment efficiently.
  • Keen eye for detail and situational awareness.
  • Conscientious work ethic.
  • Physical capabilities, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 90 pounds, and navigating uneven surfaces.
  • Prior experience in grading.
  • Ability to read grade stakes and plans.
  • Respectful demeanor towards colleagues, customers, and the public.
  • Flexibility in working hours.
  • Teamwork.
  • Self-motivation.
  • Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards.
  • Ability to maintain, inspect, clean, and occasionally repair heavy equipment.
  • Keen attention to detail and situational awareness to maintain the safety of the work environment.
  • A strong work ethic; Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required.
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Willing to perform some manual labor as needed and directed by supervisor.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Albemarle Office or Jobsite.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate various pieces of equipment to achieve precise location and grading as outlined in the plans.
  • Deliver high-quality finished products on Highway Projects.
  • Adapt and perform other duties as directed by the grading foreman.
  • Maintain, inspect, and clean equipment efficiently.
