About The Position

Blythe Development is a 100% employee-owned, licensed general contractor headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Founded in 1989, the company specializes in site work, road construction, and golf course construction throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. With more than 900 employees, it self-performs approximately 80% of site groundwork, including clearing, grading, utilities, drainage, concrete, bridges, stone base, and asphalt paving. The Grading Foreman leads field operations for a heavy civil grading crew while also performing hands-on trade work. The role oversees excavation, grading, heavy-equipment operations, production, quality, and job-site safety, and reports to the Superintendent. Applications from established crews, including operators and laborers, are welcome.

Requirements

At least 5 years of SCDOT, commercial, and/or residential grading experience.
At least 3 years of supervisory or crew-lead experience.
Experience operating relevant heavy equipment.
Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, plans, specifications, safety, and quality control.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry more than 50 pounds.
Flexibility to work changing schedules, locations, and shifts.

Responsibilities

Supervise daily field operations for a grading crew and report progress to the Superintendent.
Plan and coordinate excavation, grading, and related sitework activities.
Operate heavy equipment and oversee safe, productive equipment operation on project sites.
Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
Track and report labor hours, equipment time, and materials.
Ensure work meets safety requirements, quality standards, and project specifications.
Perform hands-on trade work alongside crew members as needed.
Adapt to changes in work schedules, project locations, and shift times.
