About The Position

CK Contractors and Development LLC is seeking a Grading Foreman to manage and direct grading crews involved in site work. This role is crucial for our expanding site development offerings throughout the Southeast, with job sites ranging from Palm Beach County to Brevard County. The Grading Foreman will oversee daily tasks, ensure adherence to project plans and specifications, and report on work progress to the Superintendent. This position requires extensive knowledge of heavy equipment operation for dirt and site projects, including excavation, grade work, surveying, and final excavating. The Foreman will also be responsible for inspecting work sites for quality, accuracy, and safety hazards, coaching team members on proper grading techniques, and monitoring crew organization and wage compliance. Maintaining awareness of surroundings to ensure the safety of all employees is paramount. The role involves completing required paperwork, interpreting production schedules, and complying with all federal, state, and local regulations, including Erosion Control Laws. Monitoring operations to ensure health and safety standards are met is a key responsibility.

Requirements

3 or more years’ experience as a Grade Foreman.
Demonstrated ability of managing people, equipment, and materials in a safe, efficient, and ethical manner.
Must be able to perform the essential tasks satisfactorily.
Must be well organized with a sense of urgency.
Must demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards.
Monitors the implementation of safety programs and processes; Provides coaching for improvement.
Must be able to work with others to achieve company results.
Have the ability to think critically to analyze information and make sound decisions.
Effective communication with others is critical, both verbally and nonverbally; this includes the ability to listen to the ideas of others.
Must have reliable transportation to be at work when scheduled and have the ability to travel.
Periodic evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime hours are expected.
Must be able to adapt and adjust to changing situations and priorities with a positive attitude.
Must wear proper attire at all times including safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image.
Continuous mental and visual attention is necessary to safety and effectively complete work tasks.
Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 lbs.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day.
Ability to balance at heights up to 6 feet from ground level.
Ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job.
Ability to frequently walk on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces.
Ability to work in confined areas.
Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment safely.
Capable of being certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations, using ladders or crawling, as required.
Ability to perform essential tasks in less than favorable conditions.
Ability to perform strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, sand, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.

Nice To Haves

A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily tasks of the grading crew.
Read and understand project plans and specifications.
Coordinate with site management for all grading.
Report on work to Superintendent.
Inspect work sites throughout construction process to ensure the quality and accuracy of work and survey for potential hazards or safety concerns.
Coach team members by teaching them proper grading techniques.
Monitor crews for organizational structure, sizing, crew mix ratios, and wage compliance in conjunction with Superintendent.
Maintain active awareness of surroundings near the equipment to maintain the safety of all employees from potential hazards such as underground utility lines, other equipment, and other workers.
Complete all required paperwork and submit as required.
Interpret production schedules and comply with all federal, state, and other regulations, including Erosion Control Laws and Regulations.
Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
