About The Position

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Grading Equipment Mechanic for a full-time, field-based role in Marietta, GA. This position reports to the Shop Manager and involves a majority of work performed in the field, with some shop-based tasks. Weekend work and day shifts are required. The role is responsible for the diagnosis and repair of the Company’s grading equipment.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience maintaining and repairing grading equipment.
At least 2 years of experience.
High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Inspects, diagnoses, repairs, and adjusts Motor Graders, Dozers, Excavators, Backhoes, and Rollers.
Repairs and replaces Fuel Systems, Charging Systems, and Hydraulic Systems.
Rebuilds and replaces Cutting edges, Teeth, Shanks, Matts, Undercarriages, changes tracks, Rollers, Turn Table & Gear box, and Drive hubs.
Determines machines conditions by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
Corrects deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as power and drive trains, electric air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop orientations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
Verifies proper performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing preventive maintenance; initiating repairs.
Services equipment to include oil changes, adding fluids, and changing filters.
Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, and hydraulic systems, diesel, and gasoline engines, transmission, and drive trains.
Tests equipment performance before and after repairs.
Performs other related duties as required, and assigned.
