About The Position

École Agnes Davidson Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Grade 5 Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a 1.00 FTE temporary position. The school serves approximately 470 students in a French Immersion program from Kindergarten to Grade 5, fostering a positive and creative environment that promotes diversity and inclusion. The Division is committed to providing culturally authentic learning opportunities and student-centered programs, serving over 12,000 students across 25 schools with over 1200 staff members. Lethbridge is a family-oriented city with a vibrant community, two post-secondary institutions, and numerous recreational activities.

Requirements

  • Possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Fluent in both French and English.
  • Sound understanding of teaching context and contributing variables.
  • Deep understanding of subject disciplines taught and pedagogical approaches based on best practice.
  • Understanding of planning, assessment and instructional practices.
  • Understanding of classroom management strategies that contribute to a positive learning environment.
  • Ability to use technology in meaningful ways for teaching and learning.
  • Qualities of a reflective practitioner who engages in professional learning aligned with the TQS.
  • Commitment to the school community with respect to professional relationships.
  • Belief in collaborative practice and teamwork.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and professionalism.
  • Active contribution to school and student activity, and overall ability to develop effective relationships within the school and community.
  • Strong understanding of comprehensive literacy and numeracy practices and evidence of how they have successfully implemented these in Grade 5 classrooms.
  • Strong understanding of authentic, outcome-based assessment and evidence of how they have successfully implemented these in Grade 5 classrooms.
  • Proven success in purposefully supporting a diverse range of learners in an inclusive classroom and a belief that all students deserve the opportunity to experience positivity, growth, and learning each day.
  • Ability to collaborate and create strong relationships for the purpose of learning with students, staff, and families.
  • Commitment to creating a culture of thinking in their classroom where collective and individual thinking is valued, visible, and actively promoted each day.
  • A police information check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification (e.g., valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card, valid passport, or Nexus card).
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name.
