This is a one-year-only position for a Grade 3 Teacher for the 26-27 SY. The teacher will be responsible for teaching elementary students to master and excel on grade-level expectations through a variety of experiences and learning opportunities. The position requires implementation of district-approved curriculum with an emphasis on workshop models and project-based learning experiences. The teacher will select and/or implement appropriate materials and activities, convey information and collaborate with school members, parents, and administration, and evaluate student growth. Additionally, the teacher will determine each student’s learning level, instruct skills in literacy, numeracy, science, and social sciences, and plan lessons in accordance with BWRSD curriculum guidelines. The role involves providing individual and small-group instruction, organizing the classroom for a conducive learning environment, and maintaining professional competence through development opportunities. Communication with parents and school staff on student progress, maintaining thorough student records, and attending staff development programs are also key responsibilities. The teacher will design instruction to meet Rhode Island’s learning standards, represent and use differing viewpoints in teaching, create instructional opportunities reflecting child development, use student understanding to create connections, and encourage critical thinking and problem-solving. The teacher must follow school policy and procedures and perform any other related duties as assigned. Teachers employed in Rhode Island public schools must demonstrate proficiency or awareness in the knowledge and practices in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy instruction, with a one-year grace period from the date of appointment to provide evidence of meeting these requirements.
