About The Position

Under the supervision of the Public Works Director, the Grade 2 Skilled Laborer performs essential maintenance functions as required. This role involves a variety of tasks including preventative maintenance and basic repairs of assigned building(s) and equipment. Responsibilities also encompass minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical work. The laborer will operate a variety of hand tools, electric-powered, and gasoline-powered tools. Daily tasks include cleaning, sweeping, mopping, servicing restrooms, moving furniture, receiving material, digging, raking, mowing, trimming, shoveling snow, and other similar duties. The position also requires table and room setup/teardown for events and occasional operation of snowplows or dump trucks.

Requirements

• Ability to perform basic labor functions
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read and write English, follow oral and written directions
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call outs
• Ability to work the assigned shift of Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
• Must be available for snow removal any day any time
• Ability and willingness to take the provided First Aid/CPR/AED Certification class
• Must possess a valid PA driver’s license, class B with airbrake qualifications
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Computer efficiency is a must
• Must have a basic understanding of building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs of assigned building(s) and equipment
• Accomplish minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical work
• Operation of a variety of hand tools, electric powered and gasoline powered tools
• Perform tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, servicing restrooms, moving furniture, receiving material, digging, raking, mowing, trimming, shoveling of snow, and other similar tasks as required
• Table and room set up/tear down for events
• Occasional operation of snowplow or dump trucks
• Performs other assigned tasks as required
