About The Position

Goodwill Industries of Northeast Indiana, Inc. is seeking a Grab Bag Assembler to help organize and package miscellaneous items into grab bags for sale in their stores. This role involves inspecting items for quality, sorting, packaging, pricing, and boxing them for distribution. The position also offers the opportunity to assist in training volunteers. The company is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for economic stability and community building through job training and employment services, supported by the sale of donated goods.

Requirements

  • Ability to be depended upon to work their schedule.
  • Able to lift, push and/or pull up to 20 pounds occasionally to move objects.
  • Able to use basic tools such as box cutters, tape guns, hole punchers and stapler/staple removers.
  • Subject to background check.
  • Ability to work within the team concept.
  • Subject to random alcohol and drug testing as specified in the Drug Free Workplace Program.
  • Fully comply with Goodwill’s Code of Ethics.

Nice To Haves

  • Assist with training volunteers or others who may be assisting with assembling grab bags.

Responsibilities

  • Unbox donated items and inspect items for quality/damage.
  • Separate damaged items from sellable items.
  • Clean sellable donated items as needed.
  • Sort items into similar categories.
  • Bag items.
  • Label, seal and price bags.
  • Box the grab bags and label the box for distribution to a store.
  • Keep work area orderly throughout the work day.
  • Maintain an inventory of needed supplies.
  • Follow grab bag program instructions and meet production needs.
  • Refers problems to management.
  • Moderate lifting and pushing.
  • Follows all safety rules and practices.
  • Performs all other duties as may be assigned by management in the process of carrying out the mission of Goodwill Industries.
  • Maintain a positive work outlook and project a pleasant, courteous, and helpful demeanor at all times when dealing with customers, donors, co-workers and clients.
