About The Position

The BCI Skills Center develops vocational training programs in partnership with local businesses to provide direct, competitive jobs for students. The Summer Job Coach is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Summer Work Experience program site. This includes work site training for summer participants, maintaining quality instruction, administering onsite social skills training, and setting goals. The coach provides guidance and direction, intervenes with participants one-on-one, and sets a professional example. They act as an advocate for participants and business partners and must be able to work independently, making decisions to guide participants to a successful and positive work experience.

Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience working with people with disabilities is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assisting the work site personnel in the training and supervision of the participants.
Monitoring the summer work participant’s activities along with ensuring their safety.
Completing all training documentation and reports associated with the program as required.
Assisting in the development and motivation of participant job skills.
Facilitating daily group meetings with participants.
Communicating with work site personnel regarding any relevant issues.
Communicating with parents/guardians about the progress of summer participants.
Facilitating the development of relationships between business partner personnel and participants.
Supporting the students in achieving their goals as outlined in their plan.
Facilitating on-site social skills training as outlined in the curriculum.
Advising on workplace accommodations if needed for the participant.
