ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise small groups of students (4-6) to help them master skills as outlined in the student training plan and as determined by the program director Assist young adults with special needs in diverse work and community environments, including outdoor settings and local businesses, throughout Marquette and Alger counties Collaborate with DNR/Park Service Staff/work location supervisor to carry out the designated summer student programming as per the student training plan Effectively communicate with parents/guardians, school district staff, administrators, and site supervisors to provide work-related soft and hard skills training for transition students Keep attendance records for each student worker Collect data and evaluate each student worker, based on student training plan Perform other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma (some college preferred) Interest and experience working one-to-one with youth who have disabilities Computer literate Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with parents/guardians & local school district staff Successful experience working in a team-centered approach DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Chauffeur's license or willingness to obtain one SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Must uphold confidentiality of privileged and sensitive student/staff information Must have the physical ability to do the job, including the ability to walk 2+ miles per day TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Approximately mid-June to mid-August Work schedule will be up to four (4) days per week Regular and reliable attendance is required REPORTS TO: Special Education Supervisor
