Requirements

  • Previous General Foreman or Foreman experience in solar construction, pile installation, civil construction, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting GPS-equipped pile drivers and troubleshooting machine positioning and installation guidance.
  • Knowledge of solar pile installation, including pile types, orientation, plumbness, embedment, and top elevation or reveal requirements.
  • Ability to understand pile plans, design coordinates, site control, calibration files, and project tolerances.
  • Ability to troubleshoot GPS equipment and identify common machine-control issues.
  • Comfortable performing minor repairs and replacing GPS components when necessary.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with experience overseeing field crews.
  • Ability to work closely with surveyors, pile-driver operators, quality personnel, equipment personnel, and project leadership.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in an active heavy-construction environment.
  • Must maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, and production.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Trimble GPS technology, including Groundworks for pile-driving applications, strongly preferred.
  • Utility-scale solar construction experience preferred.
  • Ideal candidates will have direct responsibility for GPS setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and operator support on solar pile drivers using Trimble Groundworks.
  • Experience resolving pile orientation discrepancies, verifying machine accuracy against survey control, and supporting installation records is preferred.
  • Additional experience supporting mass grading, roads, drainage, and other GPS-equipped earthmoving operations is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee a crew supporting GPS-equipped pile drivers and pile installation operations, with earthmoving support as needed.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot Trimble Groundworks and related GPS systems used on pile-driving equipment.
  • Verify that each pile driver has the current approved pile plan, correct project and block, site calibration, and required installation information before production begins.
  • Confirm pile IDs, design coordinates, pile types and sizes, and pile orientations match the approved plans and machine settings.
  • Perform and document machine setup and calibration checks, including antenna offsets, mast alignment, and applicable positioning and tilt sensors, following manufacturer procedures.
  • Verify pile-driver positioning against established survey control and known check points before production, after relocation or repairs, and when accuracy concerns arise.
  • Troubleshoot GPS corrections, radio connectivity, RTK fix status, calibration, sensor, and positioning issues affecting pile-driver accuracy.
  • Assist pile-driver operators with navigation to pile locations, selection of the correct pile, orientation settings, and installation guidance.
  • Coordinate with survey and quality teams to check pile location, orientation, plumbness, top elevation or reveal, and embedment requirements against project tolerances.
  • Review available machine installation records and coordinate collection of pile IDs, locations, elevations, and exception reports for survey and quality review.
  • Identify and escalate incorrect files, mismatched pile orientations, out-of-tolerance positioning, and equipment faults; suspend affected GPS-guided work until accuracy is verified.
  • Perform minor repairs and replace GPS components or parts as needed.
  • Coordinate with survey, pile installation, civil, and equipment teams to resolve field issues and implement approved file updates.
  • Support GPS-equipped dozers, excavators, graders, and other earthmoving equipment as needed for grading and civil construction activities.
  • Communicate equipment or GPS issues that require additional technical support or repairs.
  • Ensure GPS equipment and components are properly maintained and protected.
  • Lead daily work activities while maintaining production, quality, and safety expectations.
  • Participate in daily planning and safety meetings and communicate progress or field concerns to site leadership.
