About The Position

Tropic Kool Mechanical, a Fidelity Company, is seeking an experienced HVAC/Pipefitter Foreman to join their team in the Largo, FL area. This role involves leading field operations throughout the Tampa Bay area, focusing on delivering high-quality commercial mechanical services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial HVAC, pipefitting, or mechanical construction, and a passion for leading a team while remaining hands-on. Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial HVAC, pipefitting, welding, or mechanical construction experience.
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, mechanical piping, and installation practices.
  • Strong pipefitting and/or welding skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and project plans.
  • Strong understanding of jobsite safety requirements and mechanical construction practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, customers, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced commercial construction environment and manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Foreman, Lead Pipefitter, Lead Mechanic, or similar leadership role preferred.
  • Experience with chilled water piping, HVAC equipment, pumps, valves, and related mechanical systems preferred.
  • OSHA training or other relevant safety certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a crew of pipefitters, welders, apprentices, and other mechanical tradespeople.
  • Coordinate and perform the installation of commercial HVAC piping and mechanical systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and piping plans.
  • Lay out piping and equipment installations accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform and oversee pipefitting, welding, brazing, and related mechanical work as needed.
  • Troubleshoot field issues and develop practical solutions to keep projects moving.
  • Coordinate daily work activities with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications and applicable codes.
  • Monitor jobsite materials, tools, and equipment to help keep the project on schedule.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, time records, material usage, and project updates.
  • Train, mentor, and develop apprentices and less-experienced team members.
  • Maintain high standards for workmanship, cleanliness, safety, and overall jobsite organization.
