About The Position

The Government Relations (GR) Manager will support the advocacy and policy initiatives of Fidelity’s Government Relations and Public Policy team. This role is central to the Washington office of a leading financial services firm. The manager will be responsible for tracking legislative and regulatory developments, supporting engagement with policymakers and stakeholders, conducting research and analysis on policy issues, and assisting with political programming. The position offers opportunities to contribute to strategy, planning, and networking in Washington by covering congressional hearings, trade association meetings, and political events.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree
  • 2-3 years of government relations, public policy, communications, public relations or Capitol Hill experience preferred
  • Familiarity with financial services and public policy issues
  • Excellent people skills and stellar communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritize issues and workflow while exercising good, independent judgment
  • Capable of efficiently producing thorough research; qualitative analysis; and clear, concise written work
  • Expertise in creating advocacy materials and executive-level presentations
  • Proficient in PowerPoint slide design
  • Excel in working in a highly collaborative team environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide research, analysis, material development, and project management support for the government relations and public policy team's engagement with policymakers, regulators, government officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Draft legislative and regulatory updates and briefings on political and policy developments.
  • Assist with talking points and prep memos for meetings with policymakers.
  • Scan the external industry environment and monitor policy, legislative, and regulatory developments.
  • Track and prepare summaries of outside events, including congressional hearings and regulatory open meetings, focusing on potential impacts on Fidelity and the industry.
  • Assist with the firm’s political program, including its political action committee/PAC.
  • Attend trade association and other meetings to keep the government relations and public policy team informed.
