Government Relations Lead

FluidstackAustin, TX
$215,000 - $288,000

About The Position

Fluidstack is seeking a Government Relations Lead to shape the policy and regulations that impact the AI infrastructure industry. This role involves tracking legislation, briefing leadership on political risks, and working to influence outcomes. The lead will also be responsible for building relationships with community members and officials, acting as the face of Fluidstack in state capitols and beyond. A key aspect of the role is to earn community trust before construction begins, ensuring data center projects move forward smoothly. The Public Affairs Team is focused on solving critical problems such as navigating state and local rules on power, land, and permitting, and building advocacy to support projects.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive understanding of political dynamics surrounding digital infrastructure, energy, land use, water use, and technology regulations in frontier markets.
  • Experience creating and delivering testimony, regulatory comments, briefing documents, or coalition communications in a fast-paced, future-facing, constantly evolving political landscape.
  • Ability to leverage strong existing relationships in relevant policy communities — committee staff or officials, regulators, industry orgs, and advocates for digital infrastructure.
  • Experience translating complex ideas into straightforward, plain language understandable to diverse stakeholders that results in shifting narratives and mindsets.

Responsibilities

  • Own Fluidstack's state and local policy agenda across AI infrastructure, tax incentives, utilities, resource use, and more.
  • Draft and deliver policy materials independently: testimony, regulatory comments, briefing documents, and coalition communications that land with both technical and political audiences.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with state congressional leaders, governor’s offices, state and local regulators, and advocacy groups to ensure Fluidstack’s value proposition and perspective are communicated clearly and consistently.
  • Work directly with site development and utilities teams on data center permitting, grid interconnection, and state-level utility approvals, translating regulatory complexity into unblocked timelines.

Benefits

  • Equity in the form of restricted stock units
  • Commitment to pay equity and transparency
