The Director of Government Relations is responsible for representing the organization before state governments within an assigned multi-state region, and in other jurisdictions as needed. This role leads state-level advocacy efforts within their assigned states, serves as the primary liaison with state officials, and drives legislative and regulatory strategies that advance the company’s public policy priorities. This role advocates legislative and regulatory matters in alignment with the company’s mission, advises and informs the various business areas that are impacted by legislative and regulatory developments, and presents the company’s position on legislative and regulatory matters. Working with minimal supervision, the Director partners closely with internal stakeholders, external lobbyists, and trade associations, to monitor, analyze, and influence legislation, regulation, and judicial developments impacting the organization and its policyholders.
