About The Position

The Project Financial Controller will support the financial execution of Government contract projects within the Power Conversion and Storage division in Pittsburgh. This role is responsible for project financial oversight, compliance, forecasting, and reporting to ensure strong project performance and adherence to rigorous internal controls. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high degree of independence, strong analytical capability, and a proactive, ownership-driven approach to complex problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in project finance, project accounting, project controls, or financial analysis.
  • Experience supporting Government contracts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of independence and limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound business judgment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard financial ERP systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Marine, Defense, Aerospace, or industrial power sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of Government contract compliance and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with SAP or Oracle ERP environments.
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial control activities for Government contract projects within the Power Conversion and Storage portfolio.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, forecasts, actuals, cash flow, and margin performance.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reporting, detailed variance analysis, and key project performance indicators.
  • Ensure full compliance with Government contracting regulations, company policies, and internal control frameworks.
  • Partner closely with Project Management, Operations, Accounting, and Business leadership to provide financial insights that drive informed decision-making.
  • Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities, and develop/implement corrective actions.
  • Manage the full billing cycle, ensuring all project invoices are prepared, validated, and submitted on a timely basis in accordance with contract terms.
  • Oversee revenue recognition, cost validation, and contract review processes.
  • Support internal/external audits and reporting requirements.
  • Drive continuous process improvements to strengthen financial discipline, data accuracy, and operational efficiency.
