About The Position

Coordinate and expedite flow of materials and parts within or between production areas according to production schedule and/or demand. Maintain in stock material and inventory levels.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED certificate or equivalent education and experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of Material Control/Logistics experience.
  • Knowledge of Ship’s systems and Government Standards/Specifications.
  • Ability to listen and understand.
  • Ability to work at a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability and tolerance to meet due dates and deadlines and/or time constraints.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze departmental and industry trends.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize Microsoft office applications.
  • Ability to resolve complaints and negotiate with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of shipyard, maritime, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Navy ship repair processes and procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge NAVSEA standard items, Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual, NAVSHIPS Tech Manuals, Department of Defense standards, standards, and military specifications a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Verify type, quantity, availability of stock and arrange for delivery, or distribution to expedite flow of materials to meet production schedule.
  • Confer with responsible parties to determine required delivery dates of parts and materials and keep parties informed of material status.
  • Records and maintains government furnished material (GFM) and customer furnished material (CFM) inventory received, stored, and distributed.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing department and drivers to expedite transfer of materials from lock up areas to production areas.
  • Examine material received to verify conformance to specifications, including but not limited to part number, damage or unmarked parts.
  • Complete non-conformance reports as required.
  • Tags, labels and stages materials and parts when necessary.
  • May create reports and/or maintain documentation on materials.
  • Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accept constructive feedback, establish goals and objectives, and exhibit initiative and commitment.
  • Other duties as assigned, requested or needed.
