About The Position

The Government Account Sales Representative is responsible for driving growth within municipal, city, county, and state government accounts. This role requires experience in public sector sales, a strong understanding of procurement processes, and the ability to build lasting relationships with key decision-makers. Baumann Paper Company is a growing distributor of janitorial, office, and facility supplies, serving businesses and public sector organizations with quality products and dependable service.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of direct government sales experience
  • Proven success working with municipal, county, or state agencies
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, bid submissions, and contract compliance
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Kentucky
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management and organization
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to travel and safely operate a vehicle
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and perform routine office tasks

  • Established relationships with government decision-makers preferred
  • Experience in janitorial, facility, or office supply sales is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand sales within government accounts across Kentucky
  • Build relationships with purchasing officers, facility managers, and procurement teams
  • Identify and pursue contract opportunities, including bids, RFPs, and RFQs
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through contract award and account management
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and compliant bid submissions
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of public sector opportunities
  • Conduct site visits, product demos, and solution-based presentations
  • Stay current on procurement regulations and cooperative purchasing programs
  • Partner with customer service and operations to ensure high customer satisfaction
  • Promote company contract offerings in janitorial, office, and washroom supplies
