About The Position

The World Bank Group is seeking a Governance Analyst to support the Program Manager for Board Affairs and Governance. This role is crucial for the design, implementation, and coordination of governance-related and Board operational activities for the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD). The FRLD was established by the UNFCCC and Paris Agreement to assist developing countries vulnerable to climate change. The World Bank is acting as the interim trustee and hosts the FRLD Secretariat in Washington, D.C. The Secretariat supports the FRLD governing bodies, manages institutional relations, aids in strategy and program development, and oversees management systems. The Governance Analyst will play a key role in supporting Board processes, governance documentation, meeting preparation, and follow-up on actions. Additionally, the role involves coordinating cross-cutting operational functions such as participant administration, travel, IT, data management, and the practical delivery of Board meetings.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field and at least 2 years of experience in governance, international development, climate finance, public administration, operations support, preferably within a multilateral, UN, or development institution context.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, with demonstrated ability to draft clear, structured documents.
  • Strong practice and knowledge of operational logistics, including travel coordination, events, IT support, data management and participant administration, within the World Bank institutional environment.
  • Knowledge of governance principles, institutional coordination and compliance frameworks, particularly in international development or climate finance.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, trackers and parallel workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage professionally across cultures and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with collaborative and workflow tools;

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to or familiarity with the functioning of multilateral governance bodies (e.g., Boards, steering committees), international conference logistics or global climate frameworks and processes (e.g., UNFCCC, COP) is desirable.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake frequent travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and coordination of Board meetings, meetings with the Co-Chairs, Budget Committee meetings, and other Committees of the Board if so created, observer meetings, and related governance engagements, including preparation of agendas, presentations, background briefs, meeting materials and follow-up actions.
  • Provide active meeting support during governance discussions by tracking key issues, decisions, action points and emerging needs, and following up with relevant colleagues to help ensure timely delivery of required inputs and outputs.
  • Support the preparation, circulation, publication tracking, version control and filing of Board papers, Board decisions, official correspondence and other governance-related documentation.
  • Maintain document management systems for governance decisions, meeting records, mailing lists and historical records on the evolution of the Fund.
  • Compile and update governance-related tracking tools and support the maintenance of compliance, reporting and follow-up trackers related to Board processes.
  • Assist in the planning and facilitation of onboarding, orientation and capacity development sessions for Co-Chairs, Board members, outgoing Board members and advisers.
  • Draft briefing materials, speaking notes, summaries, internal memos and related materials to support the ED, DED, Co-Chairs in important engagements, as requested.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing governance documents such as operational procedures, decision templates and compliance guidelines, as needed.
  • Perform other governance-related tasks as assigned by the Executive Director or Governance Lead.
