About The Position

The Goods-In Specialist is responsible for verifying all incoming materials and ingredients in accordance with the facility’s inspection plans and quality standards. This role ensures raw materials for ice cream production meet specifications, manages non-conforming products, and supports overall food safety and quality programs. This position works closely with Quality, Procurement, and Warehouse teams.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience in food manufacturing, warehouse receiving, or quality control preferred.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, allergen control, and basic food safety principles.
  • Ability to interpret CoAs, specs, inspection plans, and purchase orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to work in cold storage environments (freezer/cooler) as needed.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and quality systems.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Verify all incoming shipments against inspection plans, purchase orders, and supplier documentation.
  • Perform quality checks on raw materials, packaging, and ingredients (e.g., dairy, flavors, inclusions, stabilizers).
  • Ensure materials meet food safety, allergen, and quality specifications before release to production.
  • Sample and test materials following facility procedures (sensory checks, temperature checks, labeling).
  • Document inspection results in quality systems and maintain accurate records.
  • Identify, quarantine, and document non-conforming materials.
  • Coordinate returns with suppliers and internal teams, including completing vendor return paperwork and tracking dispositions.
  • Support investigations for supplier issues and recurring defects.
  • Collaborate with warehouse personnel to ensure proper unloading, staging, and storage conditions (cold chain, allergen segregation, FIFO).
  • Verify proper lot codes, expiration dates, and packaging integrity.
  • Release approved materials for use and ensure rejected items remain in hold.
  • Assist the Quality Technician team with testing, raw material verification, and documentation.
  • Support internal audits, supplier inspections, and GMP compliance.
  • Maintain clean and organized receiving and sampling areas.
  • Participate in training related to HACCP, allergen control, sanitation, and food safety procedures.
