About The Position

The Good Zoo Train Driver is responsible for operating the zoo's train and interacting with the general public in a friendly and professional manner. Key duties include performing daily maintenance checks on the train, delivering verbal tours to guests, and adhering to the Wheeling Park Commission’s safety rules and policies. The role requires a basic knowledge of the zoo and park, and the ability to work weekends and holidays as needed. The driver is also expected to interact positively with the public, resolve guest problems, and maintain harmonious working relationships with colleagues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and education
• Valid Driver's License
• Minimum age 18

Responsibilities

• Drives the train at the zoo and interacts with general public in a friendly and professional manner
• Requires basic knowledge of zoo and park
• Performs daily maintenance checks on the train
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed
• Delivers verbal tours to guests while driving the train
• Complete appropriate trainings listed on the human resources Training Matrix
• Adhere to Wheeling Park Commission’s safety rules and policy; refer any and all safety concerns to department manager, safety committee or human resources
• Interact with the public with a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees
