About The Position

Perform general labor on Golf & Sports Turf construction and maintenance project sites as directed by the Golf & Sports Turf Crew Leader. This is a flexible role supporting both construction and maintenance work as needed.

Projects operate on compressed timelines. Early report times, long days, and consecutive-day work are common and help minimize disruption to golf courses and sports facilities. Team members should expect early starts, long days, and availability for consecutive-day project pushes when needed.

Requirements

• Ability to perform physical, hands-on labor for extended periods in varying outdoor conditions.
• Willingness and ability to work early start times of 5:00–6:00 AM, 12+ hour days, and consecutive-day project pushes.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a crew.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs, work on uneven terrain, shovel, and stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods.
• Willingness to use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Basic math skills and ability to perform conversions.
• Adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
• Clear, persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Must pass a Background 21 Check.
• Valid Iowa driver's license to legally operate company vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on labor at golf course and sports turf construction and maintenance sites as directed.
• Assist with grading, shaping, planting, hauling, material handling, equipment staging, and site cleanup on construction projects.
• Assist maintenance crews with turf maintenance tasks, including aeration support, topdressing, and general site work.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to safety protocols.
• Follow Crew Leader instructions accurately and efficiently.
• Attend company meetings as requested.
• Support and enforce RJ Lawn & Landscape's vision, mission, and core values.
• Perform snow removal duties as assigned.
