About The Position
Shaw Sports Turf is seeking an Estimator to support project estimating from initial review through handoff to Operations. The role partners with Estimating and Sales to turn construction plans and specifications into accurate, competitive bids. The Estimator assists with cost estimates and bid packages, interprets drawings and specifications, quantifies materials, gathers supplier and subcontractor pricing, and uses AutoCAD to create conceptual drawings and takeoffs. The role also updates estimates when project requirements change, maintains organized project documentation, participates in bid-package reviews, and works with Estimators and Territory Managers to improve estimating practices and accuracy. Shaw Sports Turf creates synthetic playing surfaces for recreational, K-12, collegiate, and professional sports facilities. Its work emphasizes innovation, quality, and athlete- and surface-performance research, supported by Shaw Industries and its PEAK Performance Labs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to communicate effectively across teams.
- Curiosity and a desire to continue learning and growing within estimating.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
- Foundational experience in construction estimating, project coordination, takeoffs, or a related construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with cost estimates and complete accurate project bid packages.
- Review construction drawings and specifications to identify labor, materials, quantities, and project requirements.
- Perform material takeoffs and help develop proposals that accurately represent project scope.
- Gather pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, confirm material availability, and coordinate information needed for estimates.
- Use AutoCAD to develop conceptual drawings and takeoffs from construction plans and satellite imagery.
- Update bids when drawings, specifications, or project requirements change and help keep stakeholders aligned.
- Maintain organized and current estimates, drawings, and technical information.
- Participate in bid-package reviews to identify potential discrepancies before submission.
- Collaborate with Estimators and Territory Managers to strengthen estimating practices and improve accuracy.
- Support the estimating process from initial project review through handoff to Operations.
