About The Position

Holyoke Community College (HCC) is seeking a Golf Head Coach to administer all phases of its Intercollegiate golf program. This role involves recruiting quality student-athletes, organizing and training them for successful competition, and monitoring their academic success. The position requires adherence to the policies and regulations of governing bodies, Region XXI, and HCC. Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate degree required.
  • Knowledge of the sport of golf as a student-athlete and/or coach.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and student-athlete development.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a recruiting strategy and procedures, including preparing recruiting materials and contacting prospective student-athletes, coaches, parents, and guardians.
  • Organize, prepare, and conduct team practice sessions to train athletes for competition.
  • Direct, motivate, and advise student-athletes to prepare for competition.
  • Establish program and student-athlete goals.
  • Establish and enforce team and college policies.
  • Effectively communicate proper techniques, fundamentals, and team strategies.
  • Represent the college in a positive manner by demonstrating good sportsmanship and collegiality.
  • Meet with the Athletic Academic Advisor to monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Work with the Athletic Director to develop the competition schedule.
  • Develop relationships with four-year coaches and implement a plan to assist students in transferring.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and adhere to NJCAA eligibility and compliance, as well as applicable coach and student-athlete handbooks.
  • Attend and participate in coaching staff meetings.
  • Work with the Director or designee to ensure student-athlete paperwork is completed.
  • Communicate with the Director regarding uniform and/or equipment needs.
