About The Position
This position performs assigned labor tasks to assist in proper course and grounds maintenance of outside areas at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. The role involves manual labor such as shoveling, raking, operating lawn mowers, planting flowers, and trimming trees and shrubs. It requires the safe and proper operation of power or manual equipment to complete assigned tasks and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- The ability to pick up new tasks with proper training and being able to complete job assignments without direct supervision for most of the day is essential.
- Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Must understand and abide by environmental practices of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa
- Must practice all safety policies, procedures, and standards as set by OSHA.

- Previous work in outdoor conditions is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Manual labor which includes but is not limited to shoveling, raking, pushing a lawn mower, planting flowers, trimming trees and shrubs, etc.
- Safe and proper operation of power or manual equipment to complete assigned tasks
- Ability to work with others as a team to achieve the common goal of assigned tasks
- Digging holes and trenches on grounds
- Laying sod
- Cutting cups regularly
- Hand watering of turf
- Edging cart paths, side walks and curbs
- Edging bunkers and pulling weeds in bunkers
- Other bunker work including, adding sand, redistributing sand, pushing up sand
- Fly mowing bunker faces and ledges
- String trimming
- Leaf removal/clean up and trash pick up
- Report to work on time and complete all scheduled shifts
- Attend monthly safety meetings and any pre-scheduled department meetings
- Assist other departments when requested
- Help train other employees on certain job tasks when necessary
- Understand and abide by environmental practices of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa
- Maintain open line of communication with your direct supervisor
- Complete all assignments requested of you
- Follow proper grooming and dress standards set forth by the Employee Handbook
- Other duties as assigned
